Another great book for a Psychology book club (follow this link for previous book suggestions) is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon. This now famous detective story of sorts is told from the perspective of a boy with Autism. Although fictional, it is an entertaining tale, an accessible and relatively short read as well as being an insight into this disorder of social cognition. Students could consider how authentically the central character’s condition is portrayed. A great accompaniment to relevant academic reading on this subject and a lighter way to get students into reading about Psychology than insisting they read stacks of heavy going articles.
